Arggh. I am just going to miss Gomez by a hair! We land in London on July 2nd. The streets will no longer safe. At least until the 8th as we head up north near Derby. Wait, I'll be driving a car, that means unsafe until we depart on the 12th. Any insight from anyone on something that I MUST see while touring London? I have so many places that everyone outside of this board thinks I need to see, but I trust you guys more than I do them...

^ My brother lives in London & when I go there we always eat at Belgo's (I think the real name is Belgo Centraal).....it has the BEST beer & fun food.....it's a Belgian beer garden!!!!

address: 50 Earlham Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9LJ

It's off the Covent Garden Tube stop....

Hopefully someone FROM the UK will chime in here, but for what it's worth:

I love history & my favorite tourist site is the Tower of London.....(my other favs--- the Tube- get an Oyster card & take the tube everywhere, except take a black cab at least once just to talk with the cabby, walking around Chelsea/Kensington area, find street markets like Borough Market in Southwark, go to Camden Town!!!!, walk along the Thames from London Bridge to Westminster Bridge on the south bank (Bankside to South Bank), PUBS!!!!!!! visit many & visit often......) ENJOY!!!!!

The London Eye will give you a great view of the city from a huge ferris wheel (on the south bank).
Camden Lock area is worth a visit to walk along the canal and there are some really good eateries/bars/individual shops etc. Ditto Covent Garden.
Try the Clink prison on the south bank just a little way from London Bridge (NOT Tower Bridge although it's not a million miles away!) ~ how we used to treat baddies in the old days!
Don't bother with Madame Tussauds cos it's vastly overpriced in my opinion and the wax works aren't as good as everyone makes out.
Just to see how fit you are ~ try climbing the 311 steps of the Monument!
Have a DUKW tour too ~ click here to see what i mean and wear waterproofs!
Hope this has given you a few nice things to try ~ but most of all enjoy the bars and every type of food you can think of...it doesn't have to cost a bomb!
Hope you have a great trip!

Thanks cookeegirl and danala. Keep em coming. Last time I was there I caught Pearl Jam at Wembly. Yum. Did the London Eye and will definitely be taking my kids on that as it's a great view. Thanks for the DUKW idea, I would have never thought of that as it seems so much like the stuff tourists do her in San Francisco, but if you say we should try it, we will. Oh and the pubs. Yes. At least we will have public transport so I can get shit faced and not worry too much. Hold on kiddies.

Chow!

meh! I am waaaay too lazy to go looking through all these threads for this, so does anyone have a vague set list for the 1-16-05 Hotel Cafe show?

(I know it's only taken me like four years to put titles on theses tracks )

I'm looking for a song that Tom sings "someday you may learn something something" Does anyone have a title for this?

well the problem is that there really wasn't a setlist if I remember correctly...it was kinda an impromptu gig thing.

they were all over the place. But Tom sings this song, and I can't find it anywhere. I know they did a lot of other covers that night, but I think it may be one of tom's songs that I never realized was his...but it could just be some random cover I have no hope of ever knowing too.

/and brynn's set list comp is awesome

It was fantastic to hear all these songs again live together. the highlights for me being "Rie's", "The Comeback" and "Breeze" the crowd who were in great form and sung all night.

However I have to give extra special mention to "Free To Run." as always it brought tears to my eyes.
